In this short talk Dr. Helmi Ben Hmida will talk about the current challenges that Digital Transformation impose over the current Technologies and Markets. After managing several large scale IoT projects touching several verticals and domains (City, health, building, mobility, weather, work…etc. ), Dr. Helmi Ben Hmida believe that a successful Digital\IoT business needs some characteristics that are the baseline for success. Based on his experience, Dr. Helmi Ben Hmida will provide a vision on the Opportunities for progressing the state of the art with technologies like Big Data, IoT and AI.

Dr. Helmi Ben Hmida have carried out several “IoT & Digital transformation” activities, projects & applications in the areas of Smart Living, Smart City, eHealth, Home Care and Building Management, mainly as senior, projects and portfolios manager. He is proactively involved in IoT strategy, consulting, IoT technology implementation, validation, transfer, marketing, best practices and impact oriented IoT large-scale projects. Dr. Helmi Ben Hmida has a deep market understanding and a clear and deep vision/philosophy about IoT. He is an strategic person with strong perception and knowledge  in technology and vast experience in innovation, Business models development and marketing strategy.

In this short talk Dr. John Soldatos will talk about the Trends and current big issues on using IoT, Big Data and AI, from IoT Data to Big Data and Cloud Technology to a more human-Centric social and ethical aspects on AI. After serval years in proposal writing and bid preparation, with a successful trajectory on delivering on-time in-budget within specifications and with very high quality, Dr John Soldatos continues building his career on pioneer vision about the trends and new technologies for the society. Dr. John Soldatos will provide a vision on the most relevant research topics that remain unresolved activities that can progress the state of the art in coming years with technologies like Big Data, IoT and AI.

Short Bio:

Dr. Jonh Soldatos is a High Caliber ICT and business consultant with an excellent understanding of technical, innovation and business aspects of complex ICT and Digital Transformation projects in Manufacturing, Industry, Finance, and Healthcare. Dr John Soldatos combines technical expertise with business acumen and project management skills, 

while having vast experience in World-class technical/content writer in tech topics like Internet-of-Things and Artificial Intelligence. Dr. John Soldatos is Internationally recognized through appointments in many Expert Groups, Standardization Working Groups, Advisory Boards and Think tanks. Dr. John Soldatos holds a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2000). He is Senior R&D Consultant and Innovation Delivery Specialist with INTRASOFT International (2020-present) and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, UK (2014-present).

The InterOSS-IoT workshop is co-organized by the H2020 i3-MARKET and INFINITECH Research and Innovation Actions, which are flagship projects working on relevant aspects for enabling Big Data, Cloud Systems and AI research and industry. The main objective of this workshop is to exchange experiences and ideas with the Scientific and Industrial communities as well as contribute to build new knowledge around open issues and gaps on data sharing and interoperability, architectural principles, security and standardisation efforts.
